Reversing their earlier decision to have a second autopsy, the family of custodial death victim Chang Ching Te has decided to take the body home tomorrow morning for funeral rites.

Their lawyer, Gobind Singh Deo, said the family was "satisfied" with the findings of pathologists from the Sungai Buloh Hospital (SBH) who provided a second opinion on the post-mortem carried out by the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).

Chang was found dead with foam on his mouth in the lock-up of USJ8 police station on Monday morning.

Yesterday the family managed to get the police to permit a second autopsy on Chang to establish his cause of death to their satisfaction.

Gobind said he could not reveal the cause of death as police investigations were ongoing but hinted that discussions with SBH indicated that the decreased might have suffered ‘blunt force' before he died.

"We will leave that to the police," the Puchong MP told reporters at SBH at the conclusion of the meeting between UMMC and SBH which lasted over seven hours.

Earlier at 11am, Gobind had called for a press conference to ask why SBH was not willing to carry out a second post-mortem.

However the Subang MP's private secretary, Peter Chong, explained this was because UMMC had to first inform the family on the results of the first autopsy. "This is standard procedure," he said.

After the doctors from UMMC had explained Chen's cause of death to the family, the SBH pathologists would then provide their second opinion for the family to decide their next step.

Meanwhile, Selangor executive councillor Ronnie Liu announced that state government would allocate RM10,000 for the Chang's family to settle the funeral.
