Perak DAP chairman Ngeh Koo Ham should provide concrete evidence on his allegation against a Road Transport Department (JPJ) officer, in connection with an accident involving a Seri Manjung JPJ vehicle in Sitiawan last Friday.

Transport Minister Kong Cho Ha said it was irresponsible of Ngeh to make such an allegation before it was verified.

On Jan 11, Ngeh, who is also Sitiawan assemblyman, had allegedly issued a statement on Twitter which read: "JPJ purportedly crossed a divider to get a lorry causing the big pile up. People ask, if JPJ does nt (not) follow the law, why shd (should) we?"

In a statement at Putrajaya today, Kong said Ngeh should thus, make a statement to the Perak police and present proof of his allegation.

Yesterday, Perak police chief Mohd Shukri Dahlan said that they did not dismiss the possibility of recording a statement from Ngeh, over his posting on Twitter to facilitate investigations.

Kong said, should the allegation be false, Ngeh should apologise to the JPJ.

"Provoking the people not to heed the law, if the authorities do not, is not fair. Is he proposing for everyone to disobey laws and regulations?" he asked.
