Umno Youth machineries across the country have been instructed to be more active, and to start making their final preparations to face the 13th general election on Feb 1.

NONE Its chief, Khairy Jamaluddin ( right ), had also given the green light for Umno Youth machineries at all polling district centres (PDM) to start implementing their programmes.

Umno Youth machineries must ensure that all voters, especially the new ones, will cast their votes on the polling day, he told reporters after attending the Kedah Umno Youth committee meeting in Alor Setar today.

He said Umno Youth had also taken a micro approach to ensure that each message would reach the people at the grassroots.

"In today's programme, for example, we chose to go to the PDM in Taman Wira (Alor Setar) and Kubang Betung because there are many new voters there," he said.

Commenting on the candidates for the next general election, Khairy said although Umno Youth had left it to the party president to decide, he still hoped that the party leadership would consider fielding candidates among its Youth members.

He also said that a gathering of youth would be held at the Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium in Alor Setar on Jan 31, where Najib Abdul Razak had been invited to deliver his message.
