The Indian community in Selangor are now aware that only the Barisan Nasional (BN) government and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak can provide them with a better future, according to a state BN leader.

Selangor BN secretary Mohamed Idris Abu Bakar, who is also Hulu Selangor BN chairperson, said the community was already discouraged with the opposition’s empty promises, realising that the latter were merely interested in fishing for votes.

He said the scenario had now changed, as compared to the situation during the 12th general election in 2008.

“The Indian community’s support for the BN is more solid now that they realised the sincerity of the government and prime minister in wanting to help them.

“Their trust, or ‘nambikei’, in the government has been restored, they are confident that their future is more secure with BN and that all this while, they had been used by the opposition,” he told reporters after presenting awards to Sekolah Tamil Hulu Selangor pupils who excelled in their Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examination.

Eight pupils received RM1,000 each for scoring 7As, while 11 who obtained 6As received RM500 each, and nine who obtained 5As received RM200 each.
