DAP has slammed Perak Menteri Besar Zambry Abdul Kadir for his year-long delay in disclosing the full list of recipients of state land granted since the 2009 after previously agreeing to do so.

“It has been 14 months since Barisan National expressed their intent, after pressure by Pakatan reps, to reveal the full list of beneficiaries of state lands granted since the 2009 power grab but to date, there has been no news.

“Perak DAP Youth hereby challenges BN to reveal the names of the beneficiaries of 68,503 acres of state land and let the people be the judge,” said Canning assemblyperson Wong Kah Woh in a statement today.

He said Pakatan reps had challenged BN to reveal the details of the land awards after receiving written replies in the state assembly that the BN-led government had in since wresting the state from Pakatan, made the startling approvals at a rate he said was inadequate.

“BN has, in a very short period of less than two years (2009 - 2011), approved 68503 acres of state land.

“88 percent of 60,561 acres (from that) belongs to the industrial and agricultural category. The total premium collected from those acres are RM22,696,910 which is only RM375 per acre in average,” said Wong.

“When the Pakatan reps challenged BN to reveal the full list of beneficiaries, BN exco Ramli counter-challenged Pakatan to reveal their list of beneficiaries of state land during Pakatan's regime.

“The challenge was accepted but BN is yet to fulfill their promise,” he said.

'Tit for tat meaningless'

Wong said BN’s tit-for-tat move was superfluous, as the present state government has access to all the documents related to the Pakatan state government’s dealings prior to the takeover.

He added that the move, which indirectly suggests that both administrations were guilty of dubious land awards, was disingenuous.

“The challenge to so-called ‘reveal together’ and the defamatory accusation by BN of the ‘land in exchange of MBship’ in the recent state assembly sitting was for the purpose of creating doubt and a wrong perception, which is that ‘all politicians, be it BN or Pakatan are corrupt’ in order to cover up and divert attention from BN's wrong doings,” he said.

Wong noted that the BN Perak reps’ allegations against Perak DAP chief Ngeh Koo Ham and Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming has already been proven false by the admission of the originator of the claim, a pro-Umno blog Pisau.net.

Earlier during the media frenzy over Ngeh’s alleged land scandal that prompted the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to respond with a probe, the DAP Perak chief had retorted that MACC should at the same time be also be probing Zambry .

Meanwhile Wong said, “BN's continual avoidance of the issue as to who the state land has gone to, will only goes to show that there is something which cannot be revealed. DAP Youth Perak will expose BN's land scandals in Perak over the next few weeks.

“Let the people see the truth and judge for themselves.”
