A secretariat, to serve as the mover in settling issues of numerous fields encompassing Malay Muslim communities in South-East Asian countries, will be set up soon.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Ahmad Maslan said, the Sekretariat Kerjasama Nusantara (Sutera) would be handled by the National Wasatiyah Institute headed by religious adviser to the Prime Minister, Abdullah Md Zin, with the Persatuan Generasi Bestari.
He said, a letter on the matter would be sent to Prime Minister Najib Razak and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Jamil Khir Baharom.
He said, Sutera would become a one-stop centre on the building of a cooperation network and sharing of expertise and knowledge among Malay-Muslim communities in the archipelago, in numerous identified strategic fields.
"Sutera will also gather all existing researches and carry out new ones to enrich the history and knowledge of the Malay-Muslim world in the archipelago," he told reporters after closing a seminar on Islam in South East Asia-Challenges and Hope, at the Putra World Trade Centre KL today.
Sutera will also identify, propose and monitor strategic action, which could be implemented by private institutions and the governments of the nations involved, for the peace and prosperity of Malay Muslims in the archipelago.
