Four state standing committees were alleged to have failed to convene any meeting for two consecutive years (2011 and 2012), a reflection of PAS' weakness in governing Kedah said Kedah Umno treasurer Ghazali Ibrahim.

NONE Ghazali, who made the claim, urged Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak ( right ) to respond and explain to the people.

The Padang Terap division deputy chief said the standing committee involved are Biotechnology, Human Resource, Education, Environment and Transportation.

Ghazali, when met after launching the Padang Terap parliamentary Maulidur Rasul celebrations in Kuala Nerang today, said the standing committee on public works and council of village chiefs which PAS formed, had not held any meeting in 2012.

Senior exco Amiruddin Hamzah is the chairperson for Biotechnology, Agriculture and Industry while another senior exco Phahrolrazi Zawawi is the chairperson for Public Works, Water and Power supply.

The rest are Mohamed Taulan Rasul (Education, Religion); Tan Chow Kang (Transport and Environment); Siti Aishah Ghazali (Women's Development); Lim Soo Nee (Human Resource) and Abdul Ghani Ahmad (Entrepreneur Development, Information).

"How does the state government administer and resolve people’s problems. Are the exco meetings held every week only to talk about timber," said Ghazali who is also special officer to the prime minister.

Ghazali, who is also former chairperson for the Kedah standing committee on Women, Information and Youth during former Menteri Besar Sanusi Junid's term in the late 90s, said the standing committees under the BN, prior to 2008, never failed to hold a meeting every month.

"The people should evaluate the capability of the opposition, particularly PAS, to govern the state. I urge the people to return the mandate to the BN in the 13th next general election," he said.

He said the standing committee on Water and Power supply only held one meeting last year; Women (twice in 2011 and three times in 2012), Transport (twice in 2012); Agriculture (four times in 2011 and once in 2012) and Industry (three times in 2011 and once in 2012).
