The parents of William Yau Zhen Zhong, six, have identified the body of a child found in Port Klang yesterday evening, as that of their son who was reported missing on Jan 16.

Subang Jaya police chief ACP Yahaya Ramli said, the child's body was identified based on two scars at the back of his head and one on his forehead which were similar to William Yau’s.

“William Yau’s parents also confirmed that the shorts and underwear found on the body belonged to their son. Based on preliminary investigations, police believed the body found at 6.30pm yesterday had a 75 percent similarity with William Yau,” Yahaya told reporters in Petaling Jaya today.

Yahaya said, the report of the post-mortem conducted at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR), Klang, today, cited that the victim could have died about a week ago, but the actual cause of death was not yet known because the body had decomposed and many internal organs were damaged.

He said, confirmation whether the body found was William Yau or not would be known after the results of the DNA tests which would be ready in 72 hours.

Yesterday evening a man found a partially decomposed body of a child, who was fully dressed, stuck to a boat at the Kampung Sungai Sireh jetty, and the remains were sent to the HTAR for post-mortem.

William Yau, the second child of Goh Ying Ying, 28 and Yau Kok Kang, 32, was reported missing at Jalan Putra Mahkota, Putra Heights, Subang Jaya after he was believed to have left the car to find his parents who went to an electrical outlet.

Yahaya said police were carrying out a thorough investigation into the case.

“We don’t have any concrete information yet, but have recorded information from several people.

“The DNA from William Yau’s parents were sent to the Chemical Department, Petaling Jaya for analysis,” he said adding, the case to date, was classified as sudden death, he said.

Earlier, William’s parents were seen arriving at the HTAR Forensic Department at 11am, believed to be for the purpose of giving samples for DNA tests to help identify the child and they were accompanied by police to the hospital mortuary.

Meanwhile, MCA Public Services and Complaints Bureau chief Michael Chong when met at HTAR said, the bureau would help the family in any way possible.

Social Welfare Services Department director-general Norani Mohd Hashim who was also at HTAR, said, the department was prepared to provide counselling and financial aid to William Yau’s parents if necessary.
