The opposition had merely made use of siblings B Reshina, 18, and B Dinesh Kumar 26, who participated in a demonstration with the hope of obtaining their citizenship, not knowing that nothing had been done to help them.   

The matter was exposed by the Indian Community Cabinet Committee, Special Implementation Task Force (SITF) consultant Siva Subramaniam after the presentation of MyKads to the siblings by Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein in Putrajaya today.        

“Their case was resolved in a week after dealing directly with the National Registration Department. So I urge the parties concerned not to make use of Indians any more,” he said.

Prior to this, Reshina’s situation became controversial after the opposition claimed the girl could not continue schooling due to her lack of citizenship and she was used to hold a demonstration at the Prime Minister’s Department in May last year.  

Reshina told reporters today that she was grateful to everyone who helped obtain the MyKad and said, “With this I can now pursue my dreams of higher education.”    

Meanwhile, the Home Ministry said it has not appointed Paradise Link/Linx Sdn Bhd or any other company to process the registration of illegal foreign immigrants or provide immigration services.   

In a statement in Putrajaya today, the ministry said the company was acting in its own capacity and was in no way connected to the ministry.

“Employers and members of the public are cautioned not to deal with the company and advised to contact the ministry or make a police report if any companies offer such services,” it said.
