Police have released photos of 14 people who are alleged to have taken children below the age of 15, to the Himpunan Kebangkitan Rakyat (People’s Uprising Rally) held last Jan 12.

NONE This was announced in a statement posted on the Kuala Lumpur police’s Facebook page and accompanied by photos of those involved. These were taken during the gathering, also dubbed KL112.

It is stated that the act of taking children to the rally at Stadium Merdeka contravened Section 4(2) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 (PAA) and Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.

If convicted, those concerned face a maximum fine of RM20,000 each under the PAA,  and a maximum RM20,000 fine or 10 years' jail or both, under the Child Act.

The police have appealed to those in the photos, as well as anyone with information, to report to the nearest police station or contact investigating officer ASP Tonny Lunggan at 014-6225 262.

The Star Online quoted KL police chief Mohmad Salleh as saying that, although no deadline has been set, they should come forward as soon as possible to facilitate investigations.
