Umno supreme council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi described PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang as arrogant for saying that PAS could not cooperate with Umno.

He said the statement reflected Abdul Hadi ( below ) as not being far-sighted and did not possess mature thinking in politics.

NONE "This shows the attitude by Abdul Hadi, (and) clearly reflects him as a political leader who is no longer relevant," he told a media conference after opening the Karangkraf Carnival 2013 in Shah Alam today.

He said it also reflected PAS as having deviated from its stand of championing Islam when it was more prepared to cooperate with the non-Muslim DAP than work with Umno.

"History has shown that Umno and PAS used to work together and it is puzzling when PAS is willing to be with a party which rejects Islam," he added.

In another development, Mohd Puad challenged DAP chairperson Karpal Singh to take action against PAS supporters who staged a demonstration recently to protest against DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng's call on the use of the word ‘Allah’ in the Malay-language Bible.

"I have identified three of them as PAS members and they also stepped on posters bearing Guan Eng's picture and the DAP symbol," he added.

Last Jan 27, several PAS supporters staged a peaceful gathering at a mosque in Sungai Petani, Kedah, calling for the Penang chief minister to apologise publicly to Muslims in the country.
