Police said the autopsy report on the three-year-old toddler discovered dead at home in Semenyih yesterday confirmed he had been abused.

Kajang police chief ACP Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said the autopsy performed by Hospital Serdang determined the cause of death as head trauma from a hard object resulting in internal bleeding.

He said bruises were also found on the victim's chest and hands, besides whipping marks on his legs.

"According to the doctor there were two abuse marks, the latest inflicted two days ago while the other, about a week ago," he said when contacted by Bernama .

Muhammad Irfan Raiyan Muhammad Shahn's mother, a 25-year-old housewife, claimed to have found him lifeless when she wanted to wake him up for a bath at 11am yesterday.

Ab Rashid said the woman would be questioned to facilitate investigations under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001.
