PKR representatives have urged Selangor MCA chief Donald Lim to wait for the minutes of a meeting of the Selangor Economic Action Council (MTES) on the issue of an alternative route for a high-tension cable project in Rawang.

In a statement today, Selayang MP William Leong and Rawang state assemblyperson Gan Pei Nei refuted Lim's statement that Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has not approved the alternative route.

Last Thursday Leong had announced that the Selangor government has reached consensus with TNB, which will see the project taking an alternative route, thus avoiding a village whose residents have long objected to the project.

Lim yesterday reportedly claimed that he has checked with TNB and that it had denied Leong's announcement.

Leong and Gan reiterated that the alternative route had been proposed by TNB during the MTES meeting on Jan 30.

“Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim then set several criteria on the alternative route, including that the high-tension cable will not pass through Kamping Sungai Terentang. This is to ensure the interests of the people will not be compromised by this project.”

They said the minutes of the meeting will confirm the decision.
