Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has likened PAS, DAP and PKR leaders to "water and oil" that cannot be united to lead the country.

Najib said the opposition leaders subscribed to different political ideologies, struggles and agendas and it would therefore be difficult for them to cooperate with one another.

NONE "DAP has Karpal Singh, Lim Kit Siang while PAS has Abdul Hadi Awang and Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat. Like water and oil, they are an impossible mixture.

"At the same time, how are they going to fit in Anwar Ibrahim? All of them are very different from all aspects," he said to a crowd of more than 10,000 attending the Johor-level Chinese New Year celebration in Kulaijaya today.

Najib, who is also BN chairperson, said unlike the opposition, the BN adopted the concept of power sharing among component parties and held the reins of government since independence.

The prime minister also asked the people of Johor to give a cold shoulder to Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim, who was scheduled to visit Johor today, and not be swayed by his promises.

Khalid is no different from other PKR and opposition leaders who are good at "selling promises" but are not good at honouring them despite presenting them in their party manifesto, he said Najib.

25,500 Pr1ma units at 20pct discount

Also in Kulaijaya later in the day, Najib announced the building of 25,500 affordable housing units in the Iskandar Malaysia region of Johor under the Perumahan Rakyat 1Malaysia (Pr1ma) scheme.

He said the project, carried out in collaboration with Pr1ma Bhd and five private housing development companies, would be completed in three years.

He said the market price of each unit would be RM250,000, but through the public-private sector partnership in the form of funds from the government, the project could be expedited with the houses to be sold at below the market price.

"The original market price offered by the developer was RM250,000 but through facilitation by the government, the price would be 199,000 only.

"This is a big discount of RM51,000 or over 20 percent through the contribution of funds from the government," Najib added at the drawing of lots for the Nusantara Pr1ma affordable housing units at Dewan Raya, Bandar Putra in Kulaijaya, Johor, today.
