Selangor will remain backward and its people will suffer if Pakatan Rakyat is allowed to continue to be in power in the state, said state BN deputy chief Noh Omar.

He said when the state government and the federal government did not work in tandem, it would complicate the implementation of development projects and in the end, it is the people themselves who lose.

He said the situation was worsened by the current state government under the opposition coalition which was more interested in showing its power by hindering development projects implemented in Selangor by the federal government.

He said several projects for the wellbeing of the people such as the proposed Universiti Teknologi Mara branch campus in Serendah was derailed when the land owned by Yayasan Kebajikan Kemiskinan was seized.

Apart from that the Langat Project 2 was also thwarted when the state government refused to give its approval for the treatment plant to treat raw water from Pahang.

He told this to reporters after opening the 1Malaysia Barisan Assembly in Section 7, Shah Alam, which was attended by 3,500 people from 200 non-governmental organisations (NGO) to show their support for the BN.

Noh, who is also agriculture and agro-based industry minister, said the state government was only interested in showing its power by suspending road projects and federal infrastructure such as the Automated Enforcement System (AES) which later had to be decided by the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

Expect double dissolution

Noh said Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim had stated the Selangor government would dissolve the State Legislative Assembly after the Chap Goh Meh celebration and alleged he had obtained the consent of the Selangor sultan.

Noh said according to normal practice, if a menteri besar had obtained the sultan's consent to dissolve the assembly, he should announce the date of the assembly's dissolution.

However, Noh said up to now, the date of the assembly's dissolution had not been announced by Abdul Khalid and he was confident Selangor would not dissolve its state legislative assembly earlier but it would be dissolved simultaneously with Parliament.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Ahmad Maslan said he hoped NGOs which formed the third force in Malaysia after the federal and state governments, as the first force and political parties as the second force, would support BN.

The 1Malaysia Barisan Assembly this morning was the sixth assembly of NGOs after Sabah, Perlis, Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Terengganu, he said.

He said the programme which began in November last year would be completed throughout the country by early next month.
