A computer technician pleaded not guilty in the George Town magistrate's court today to three counts of cheating three women last year.

KK Prabaharan, 45, is charged with cheating T Suppamal, 68, by dishonestly inducing her to surrender six necklaces, six pairs of earrings, two bangles, five rings and a bracelet, worth RM60,000, to be cleaned.

The offence was allegedly committed at a house in Taman Hamna, Lorong Helang 1, Sungai Dua, Gelugor, at 10am on Nov 7 last year.

On the second charge, he is accused of cheating A Vanija, 31, by inducing her to hand over RM2,000 for the purpose of obtaining a canteen tender for SMK Convent, Green Lane in Georgetown.

The offence was allegedly committed in front of Lam Wah Ee Hospital, Jalan Tan Sri Teh Ewe Lim here, at 3pm on Oct 8 last year.

Prabaharan is also charged with cheating B Vikneswary, 29, by inducing her to hand over RM16,000 as repayment for her loan with the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) at Bank Rakyat, Jalan Magazine at 3pm last Dec 6.

Magistrate Norhayati Ibrahim allowed Prabaharan bail of RM20,000 in three sureties and set April 16 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Khairul Fairuz Rahman prosecuted, while Prabaharan was represented by lawyer Md Yusuf Idris.

Prabaharan was arrested at his house in Bukit Gambir here last Jan 4 after police received a report on a casanova who had allegedly cheated more than 20 women through the social website and believed to have accumulated more than RM500,000 from his victims since 2001.
