Penang BN Youth today challenged the Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) to show proof that the BN administrative centre had put up the ‘1Malaysia’ flags in the municipality.

    

Its chief, Oh Tong Keong, said that the MPPP was being unfair to the state BN by having issued a summons, and then blacklisted it without any proof.

    

"If MPPP councillor Ong Ah Teong has proof that the Penang BN put up the 1Malaysia flags, we will pay (the summons) but if he does not, then he will have to apologise," he told reporters in George Town.

    

The MPPP's move to charge RM10 for every ‘1Malaysia’ flag if the state BN wanted the return of the seized 9,500 flags has been described as ridiculous.

    

Oh said that the Penang BN had adhered to the instructions and regulations of the MPPP in putting up 1,000 BN flags during the period of Feb 8 to 14.

    

"The MPPP asked the state BN to reclaim the RM1,500 deposit, and this shows that the BN administrative centre had not violated the regulations. If the regulations were not adhered to, why is it that the deposit had been returned?" he queried.

    

Oh said that the MPPP’s action was biased, because other parties such as PKR should also be subjected to action for putting up party flags in a manner which endangers the public safety.

    

He said that it was unreasonable to blame the state BN because the putting up of the ‘1Malaysia’ flags reflected the people's support for the ‘1Malaysia’ concept.

    

"If other ‘1Malaysia’ products are linked to us, are the ‘1Malaysia’ song and dance performed during the Chap Goh Meh run organised by Penang Deputy Chief Minister I Mansor Othman also associated with us?" he asked.
