A former bank clerk pleaded not guilty at the magistrate’s court in Kuantan today to two counts of withdrawing RM50,772.40 from actress Lisa Surihani Mohamed and her mother Siti Amirah Ahmad’s joint account, in January.

NONE Shawallinah Jaffar, 31, from Kudat, Sabah, allegedly withdrew the money from a Taman Tas Maybank account which belonged to Lisa Surihani (right) , 26, and her mother, 62, between Jan 7 and 10.      

The accused was charged under Section 408 of the Penal Code which is punishable by a maximum of 14 years in prison, whipping and liable to fine, upon conviction.

The second count involved the accused misusing the victim’s ATM card at the same place and date under Section 403 of the Penal Code which carries a sentence of a maximum five years’ jail, whipping and liable to fine, upon conviction.

Magistrate Tuan Ruzuaini Tuan Lah set bail at RM13,000 with one surety and fixed March 18 for remention.

Deputy public prosecutor Farahah Mohd Nazari prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented.
