The plaintiff’s lawyer, Abu Bakar Isa Ramat, said the legal action was instituted on March 5 following alleged slander and libel by Mohammad Sabu or Mat Sabu and four others through the Harakah newspaper's Feb 1-3, 2013 edition under the heading ‘ Wan Ahmad Tak Boleh Dipercayai ’ (Wan Ahmad cannot be trusted).
He said the other four defendants were PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali; Harakah printers, Angkatan Edaran Enterprise Sdn Bhd; Harakah editor in-chief Ahmad Lutfi Othman and article writer, Aziz Muda.
The case would be presided by Justice Lee Heng Cheong, he told the press at Wan Ahmad’s residence in Shah Alam today.
In the alleged article, Mohamad Sabu was reported to have urged the plaintiff’s resignation to restore the people’s confidence in the EC.
Mohamad Sabu had also claimed among others, that Wan Ahmad had played a role together with other individuals in the ‘Project IC’ in Sabah to allegedly orchestrate a victory for the Barisan Nasional in the election.
