Philippine authorities have reportedly started its investigations into an alleged conspiracy behind the Sabah security crisis.

Philippine online news portal PhilStar reported that the Philippine National Bureau of Investigation has summoned the Sulu sultanate’s advisor Pastor ‘Boy’ Saycon yesterday to be questioned on Tuesday morning.

NONE Meanwhile, Philippine presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda reportedly said President Benigno Aquino III ( right ) will brief Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak of the conspiracy.

Lacierda reportedly said that Aquino would tell the premier that “there are ringleaders, and there were others who were deceived.”

“We’ve seen also in some reports in the media, that some of them… part of the royal sultanate forces, were paid US$600… (or) were promised to be paid US$600. They were promised land, they were promised positions in the sultanate.”

Meanwhile, the report today also quoted self-proclaimed Sulu sultan Jamalul Kiram III’s spokesperson Abraham Idjirani denying that the sultan’s followers had been enticed with money and power.

He also reportedly said the Jamalul would not attempt to escape persecution because “he is already an old man”.

The news portal noted that the Philippine government had previously warned Jamalul and his followers would face arrest for various offences such as inciting a war and illegal possession of firearms.
