Lendu assemblyperson Idderis Kassim was buried at the Bukit Apit Muslim Cemetery in Ayer Limau, Alor Gajah this morning.

Present to pay their last respects to the former state assembly deputy speaker were Malacca Chief Minister Mohd Ali Rustam, state exco members and about 1,000 people.

Idderis, 66, died at the Putra Hopsital in Malacca at 6.50pm yesterday, after battling colon cancer since 2011.

He is survived by widow, Rohani Yunus, 61, sons Zamran, 39, and Zulkarnain, 36, and four grandchildren.

During the 12th general election, Idderis, who represented Barisan Nasional, defeated PAS candidate Mohd Amir Yaakub with a majority of 1,633 votes.
