Realising it's an uneven playing field with regards to the mainstream media where it has limited access, PKR today launched apps for voters to get to know its activities via iPhones and smartphones running on the Android platform.

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim said despite what has been pledged by the government, opposition parties had not much access to the BN government media.

NONE “Hence we are launching apps for voters to get to know the party and its candidates,” he said.

"With this, we hope to reach a larger audience during the election," said the opposition leader who is also Permatang Pauh MP.

Party director of strategy Rafizi Ramli said the party is the first in the country to launch such apps for the social media, which will enable voters to get direct information from PKR.

There will be video and Twitter feeds of PKR leaders and candidates, he said.

 Rafizi said that the applications will available from March 25, and all users have to to do is search for PKR.

He said the applications will provide up to date news, infographics on current issues, information on Anwar's activities, dates of ceramah, as well as the profile of its candidates after nomination day.

Voters will also be able to check their particulars.

"Unfortunately, we have not developed any applications for Blackberry phones," he said.
