In a press release today, MCA deputy publicity chief Loh Seng Kok (

) said Lim was a "political deserter" and does not deserve to be the MP for Gelang Patah.
"Providing service to the people is the most basic responsibility of every elected representative, and responsible leaders will not abandon the people who voted for them.
"Lim, on the other hand, as we can see, abandons each and every one of his constituencies, including his most recent constituency of Ipoh Timor," said Loh.
Lim has held the Ipoh Timor seat for two terms. He is set to be fielded as DAP's candidate for Gelang Patah in Johor, which is his home state.
Yesterday, MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek noted that since 1969, Lim has contested in many constituencies, likening him to a "touch-and-go" politician.
'Lim a mere street hero'
Lim has been the member of Parliament for of Bandar Melaka from 1969 to 1974 and again from 1974 to 1978 when it was renamed Kota Melaka, Petaling Jaya (1978-82), Kota Melaka (1982-86), Tanjong (1986-99) and Ipoh Timor since 2004.
Despite his many electoral victories, Loh said the people must also remember the foour times Lim was defeated - Serdang in 1968 (by-election, state seat), Bandar Hilir in 1982 (state), Tanjong Bungah in 1995 (state) and Bukit Bendera in 1999 (Parliament).
He said that Lim did not learn from these mistakes that he needed to service his constituents, not adopt "street hero" politics.
"MCA, on the other hand, has always been a service-oriented party, and this is a big reason why we condemn DAP’s tactics of only providing lip service and abandoning their own constituencies.
"Moreover, MCA also places importance on our organisation and service network to enable us to serve the people better," said Loh.
Soothing tensions with PKR?
Meanwhile, MCA organising secretary Tee Siew Keong said Lim's purpose of contesting in Gelang Patah to soothe DAP's rocky relationship with PKR.
"Johor voters can see very clearly through the power struggle between Johor DAP chairperson Dr Boo Cheng Hau and Johor PKR chairperson Chua Jui Meng.
"Lim's candidature for Gelang Patah is just to prevent the rift between Boo and Chua growing out of hand, in the hope of easing grassroots discontent," said Tee.
He added that Gelang Patah is part of Iskandar Malaysia and voters there have much to benefit from the scheme.
However, they would be jeopardising their potential benefits if Lim is fielded in Gelang Patah because he will "hoodwink voters, create chaos and bring disruption".
