The Public Services Commission (PSC) expects at least 50,000 vacancies in the public service to be filled this year.  

Its chairperson, Mahmood Adam, said the job vacancies would be available as there were public servants who would retire at the age of 60 this year.

“Last year, 50,000 civil servants were appointed and we expect the number to be slightly higher as many of those who opted to retire at the maximum age will do so this year,” he said.

Mahmood was met after the PSC interaction session with the heads of federal departments, statutory bodies, non-governmental organisations and associations at the PSC job fair in Kluang today.

Meanwhile, Mahmood urged graduates who were interested to become Administrative and Diplomatic Service Officers (PTD) to apply to sit for the examination that will be held on April 13.

Mahmood added currently, 70,000 had applied to sit for the exams and those interested should register and apply at http://www.spa. gov.my .
