Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail expects more people to be charged over the Sulu terrorist intrusion in Lahad Datu, Sabah.

This, he said, was due to the ongoing ‘Ops Daulat’ and clashes between the security forces and the enemy.

He said the police also needed time to complete their investigations before charges could be made against the suspects.

"The security members are doing their best, even in this kind of situation. I understand the problems they face in conducting their investigations," he added.

He told this to reporters after a court proceeding on the eight Filipinos charged with engaging in terrorism in Sabah and waging a war against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at the Tawau District Police station, which had been turned into a court room today.

He said in giving time to the police to conduct their investigation did not mean delaying the case, but to ensure justice for all parties.

Abdul Ghani said he had been to Lahad Datu to see the investigations conducted by the police.

"For a person to be charged in court there has to be sufficient evidence. If there is not enough poof, we cannot charge the person, even if we are certain that he or she does it," he added.
