Police have sent the investigation papers on Himpunan Hijau chairperson Wong Tack, who threatened to torch the Lynas Malaysia plant in Gebeng, Kuantan, to the Pahang Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Pahang deputy police chief SAC Jamaluddin Abd Majid said he was made to understand that the papers had been sent to Putrajaya.

“We are now waiting for instructions to take further action,” he told reporters at the 206th Police Day celebration in Kuantan today.

He said the investigation against Wong was made under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication.

The offence carries a maximum jail of two years upon conviction.

Last Feb 4, a Chinese language newspaper paper and several news portal reported that Wong Tack had issued a statement to burn down the rare earth plant if it was not shut down after the 13th general election.

However, on Feb 7, he was said to have apologised for making such a statement at a ceramah organised by an opposition party.
