Ex-Bank Negara governor Ali Abul Hassan passes away
Former Bank Negara governor Ali Abul Hassan Sulaiman, 71, passed away at his residence located at No 3, Jalan 3, Kemensah Heights in Kuala Lumpur at 4.45pm due to heart and lung complications.
Former Bank Negara governor Ali Abul Hassan Sulaiman, 71, passed away at his residence located at No 3, Jalan 3, Kemensah Heights in Kuala Lumpur at 4.45pm due to heart and lung complications.
Ali Abul Hassan will be buried at the Kemensah Heights Muslim cemetery after the Zohor prayers, tomorrow.
His son-in-law Mohamed Faruk Rahmatullah, when contacted by Bernama , said Ali Abul Hassan leaves behind wife Jamilah Ali Abul Hassan and three children, a son and two daughters.
Ali Abul Hassan, who was born in Penang, served as the director-general of the Economic Planning Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department for seven years until Sept 5, 1998 and also served as secretary to the National Economic Action Council from September 1998.
He was appointed the sixth governor of Bank Negara from 1998 to 2000.
Ali Abul Hassan retired on May 1, 2000 and was succeeded by Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz and on April 17, 2001, was appointed Special economic adviser to former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
