The effectiveness of the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) programme involving the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and Armed Forces (ATM) was obvious throughout the Lahad Datu joint security forces offensive, said Deputy Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar.

NONE "The combination of units under the PDRM, including the General Task Force, Special Task Force, Vat69, Marine Task Force and Air Unit, and fully backed by the ATM reflected the country's strength in combating terrorists and defending its sovereignty," Khalid said.

He was speaking at a luncheon held in conjunction with the 206th Police Day anniversary at Felda Residence, Felda Sahabat 16 in Lahad Datu, Sabah, today.

Also present were Army Field Commander Lt-Gen Zulkiple Kassim, Sabah Deputy Police Commissioner Tan Kok Liang, Felda management and village and community chiefs in the area.

Khalid said if the NBOS, which was focused on creativity and innovation, were to be continued, it would enable the police and army to effectively resist any future attempt by undesirable elements to undermine the country's sovereignty.

He said through the NBOS, the PDRM and ATM had also enhanced their cooperation by conducting joint patrols nationwide to combat crime.

Meanwhile, Khalid received a surprise when an armed forces personnel team led by Armed Forces chief Gen Zulkifli Mohd Zin turned up at the function with a cake, singing 'Happy Police Day'.

Zulkifli said the cake, in the shape of the national hibiscus flower and tied with a ribbon in the form of an ATM Commando unit uniform, was to signify the close rapport between the two forces.
