Police will carry out a thorough  investigation to track groups or individuals involved in channelling funds to terrorists from the southern Philippines who intruded into Sabah recently.

Inspector-general of police Ismail Omar said police could not divulge details because it was a serious matter and could not be rushed.

“Wait until our investigation is over and we will tell all. We endeavour to detect them as quickly as possible,” he told reporters after visiting the exhibition room of System Consultancy Services in Langkawi today.

Yesterday, deputy inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar told reporters in Lahad Datu that the security authorities were unravelling an act of treason against the nation, including channelling funds to terrorists from the southern Philippines.

On the situation of Ops Daulat, Ismail said the police had sent out several important assets to strengthen the defence strategies of the security forces, especially in Lahad Datu.

Police had received additional allocations from the government to strengthen several areas such as logistical needs and important assets, he added.
