Shahrizat firmly behind Nong Chik for Lembah Pantai
Former Lembah Pantai MP Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said she will give her full support to Federal Territories Minister Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin to win back the constituency in the coming general election.
Former Lembah Pantai MP Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said she will give her full support to Federal Territories Minister Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin to win back the constituency in the coming general election.
Shahrizat put down the present MP Nurul Izzah Anwar saying voters were smart to make a choice.
“Ask the voters about the prestige of the leader there. Talks big during the campaign, wants to do this and that, but afterwards ... nothing,” said the Umno Wanita chief in Sungai Besi this morning.
She was officiating the Majlis Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN) at the PDRM Desa Tasik.
“God willing, I fully support Raja Nong Chik as the candidate to the end. I have already gotten three terms (as Lembah Pantai MP), I will go down to the ground to help,” she said.
“I believe Lembah Pantai voters can think. Their MP has done nothing for their well being.
“God willing, the voters will give Raja Nong Chik their mandate.”
Raja Nong Chik, who is also Lembah Pantai Umno chief, appears likely to contest in Lembah Pantai.
Nurul Izzah had countered his claims that she has done nothing for the constituents by challenging him to a debate , to a no show.
This week the MP also filed for a judicial review on the Lembah Pantai electoral roll, alleging the presence of over 4,000 suspect names .
Shahrizat ‘not contesting’
Meanwhile when asked, Shahrizat said will not be contesting in the coming polls.
“No, I will not contest. But I will be with the Wanita machinery throughout the country,” she said.
The former women, family and community development minister has been embroiled in controversy over her family’s involvement with the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) scandal that led to her not renewing her post after her senatorship expired last April 8.
She is presently suing PKR strategy director Rafizi Ramli and PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin for RM100 million for defamatory statements linking her to the NFC scandal.
