The BN is capable of regaining most of the opposition states, including Penang, in the coming 13th general election, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nor Mohamed Yakcop said today.

NONE He said this confidence was based on the people's positive response towards the country's transformation programmes and their realisation of the government's determination in improving the standard of living.

"We hope voters in Penang now realise the central government's sincerity. We have carried out various development projects in this state despite its opposition rule," Nor Mohamed ( left ) told reporters after launching the 2013 Jom Youth Carnival in Geolrge Town today.

He was commenting on DAP national chairperson Karpal Singh's reiteration of the opposition's confidence of winning about seven or eight more states in the next general election.

"We cannot prevent people from having goals. But from a realistic political point I'm confident we (BN) can win, not just Putrajaya but also regain the states we lost in 2008," Nor Mohamed said.

Touching on the banners stating he should not contest in the Tasek Gelugor parliamentary constituency, the seat he now holds, Nor Mohamed said the matter did not affect him and should not be made into an issue.
