Kedah Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak's remark that the Selangor government made too many election promises was a result of him "becoming confused" after relying on mainstream media reports.

"He could have been too busy with state affairs that he had no time to read the alternative media," Faekah said in a statement.

Azizan had said that the Selangor government made too many election promises that it could not afford to pay for them.

He was responding to the series of lawsuits spearheaded by BN supporters against the Selangor government for allegedly unfulfilled election promises.

‘Selangor spent plenty on welfare'

Refuting this, Faekah said the Selangor state reserve has consistently increased and hit a whopping RM2.6 billion in February, with more than RM800 million spent on welfare programmes.

Prior to the 2008 general election, she said, Pakatan Rakyat did not exist as an entity as its three component parties, PKR, PAS and DAP only came together after the election result was known.

"Even though we have executed several welfare programmes, including those not in the 2008 manifesto, BN in Selangor has chosen to take advantage of groups that lack information to file lawsuits against the Selangor government.

"We affirm that the lawsuits are merely an abuse of the court process to put the state government in bad light," she said.

Faekah said it was up to the people's wisdom to judge the Selangor government's performance and invited Azizan to send his officers to the state for a briefing on the welfare programmes of the Selangor government.
