Does the EC even care if it lacks credibility?

YOURSAY 'Nothing has been done to give confidence to the rakyat that the coming GE will be conducted fairly.'

Nurul Izzah shows proof EC received complaint

your say Ferdtan: Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar, by showing proof that the Election Commission (EC) had acknowledged receipt of her official complaint, which EC chairperson Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said was not received, indicates either he is not in control of his department or he is blatantly lying.

He cannot blame the mistake on his junior personnel (the usual scapegoat) as the person who acknowledged the receipt from Nurul is a top official, EC secretary Kamaruddin Mohamed Baria.

Abdul Aziz is giving silly reasons and twisting facts and is obviously buying time to stall and delay all complaints. It will continue until the general election is called, and well over.

We also have to thank the alternative media for reporting and highlighting such dereliction of duty by our public officials. Such news is never reported in the mainstream media.

The moment when BN is toppled, Abdul Aziz must be investigated for whatever offences he may have committed. Let this be a warning to him not to take his authority for granted.

Multi Racial: This goes to show this EC is inefficient, deliberately does not want to look into dubious voters, or is a party to the fraud and just an extension of Umno. Whichever way you look at it, the EC is run by people of no integrity.

It's best for them to step aside so that someone more credible can restore EC's image.

MfM: The modus operandi is to deny first until evidence is shoved in their face. The arrogance of these BN stooges to try to keep their masters in power is unbelievable.

They know what will happen to them if Pakatan Rakyat comes to power. That is why we need to make sure the opposition gets 70 percent of the vote to ensure BN will be buried in GE13, no matter what they do.

Bender: I bet EC is now busy cooking up another batch of excuses to counter this latest revelation by Nurul Izzah.

Do it care about Nurul Izzah's claim about the EC having no credibility left? No. The EC is only answerable to Umno, so what does it need credibility for?

What the EC is doing right now is to buy more time and try to get through the next GE without having to make any major changes to its master plan (to make BN win by hook or by crook), which includes letting these 4,500 problematic voters to remain in the electoral roll.

In the end, the EC will come out with a scripted response: "Oh, we're sorry, there's nothing we can do about the 4,500 dirty entries in the roll since the election is coming and we don't have the time and the humanpower to remove them, but we'll be sure to do it before GE14."

EC is just another bullshit factory, just like Utusan Malaysia , TV3 and other Umno lackeys.

Anonymous #33877536: EC, why are you so adamant? Solve the problems. The more you resist, the more they suspect.

Onyourtoes: I am not a lawyer so I may not know what I am talking about. I would prefer that Pakatan challenge the constitutionality of Section 9A of the Elections Act 1958, which stipulates that a gazetted electoral roll cannot be challenged in court.

If we uphold a moronic law like this, why call ourselves a democracy that practises separation of power, rule of law and holds elections once every five years?

This is obviously the executive branch takes all, rule by law and holding the elections just for show.

Rahman: It looks like Nurul Izzah wants to sabotage the election and stay on as MP. She is a fool for thinking so.

In the first place, her lawyer's letter to EC is dated March 4 and EC acknowledged receipt on March 6 with an undertaking to look into her complaints.

Today is only April 1, so not much time has lapsed. Over and above, she does not follow procedures set by EC to rectify the voters' roll.

There is even a period after display of the roll to file complaints. Once that period is over, you need documentary evidence to rectify the roll.

Death must be supported by death certificates issued by the National Registration Department. This is to be done by family members.

Cases of non-residents occurred prior to 2001, where one could choose to register in any constituency. The biggest culprits were PAS and DAP members who chose to vote in certain constituencies to ensure the victory of their national leaders.

Not Convinced: Rahman, it has been one month. How much more time do you want to give the EC to check on its doggy rolls - until after GE13?

Hmmmmmmmm: A complaint has been sent to EC regarding more than 4,500 dubious voters on the electoral roll.

So what does the EC do? Instead of checking whether the complaint is indeed true, it prefers to let Nurul Izzah take it to court, so that more time and energy can be wasted (not to mention cost to taxpayers).

The courts will either throw out the case or it will be heard after the elections. This appears to be the game plan of the EC.

Eskay: If there is error, the EC chief should have instructed his team to correct them even before being pushed to do so to safeguard their reputation.

Now that the evidence of errors is there and yet we need to seek legal action to correct the mistake, what kind of stupid system is that?

The EC team led by such leaders not only did not show a bit of efficiency and credibility, their mentality is so arrogant and idiotic that they are not fit to take home their pay, which is borne by Malaysian taxpayers.

Zzzzzz12345: Make Ambiga Sreenivasan EC chief when Pakatan takes over Putrajaya and retire the present one. She will sort things out and GE14 will be on a level-playing field and from then on, elections will represent the will of the majority.

Ahmad Said: It is now looking more and more obviously to the rakyat that EC is in cahoots with Umno-BN to try to unseat Nurul from Lembah Pantai with these 4,500 phantom voters.

I suggest that when Pakatan takes over the federal government, these traitors who subvert Malaysia's fledgling democracy and betray the rakyat should be severely punished.

Starr: It is clear that Abdul Aziz is blatantly lying. The public should now petition the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to have Abdul Aziz removed for bringing the EC into disrepute and public ridicule.
