Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has done a "disservice to himself and his past" by publicly endorsing Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali, PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar said today.

NONE Referring to Mahathir's public endorsement that the country needs more people like Ibrahim, who has been accused of stroking racial tensions in the country with his right-wing Malay supremacy stance, Nurul Izzah ( right ) said the statement also constitutes a betrayal of BN chairman Najib Abdul Razak's 1 Malaysia concept.

"I wish Ibrahim will be a footnote in Malaysian history. For Mahathir to support Ibrahim - I think it is his way of shoring up support with the extremists in the party."

Nurul Izzah also said Najib could not distance himself from the comments that Mahathir or Ibrahim have made in the past.

"I ask the Malaysian electorate to recognise that Najib cannot possibly divorce himself from the statements that Mahathir and Ibrahim have made," she stressed.

Nurul Izzah had earlier organised a free health screening camp for the residents of low-cost flats in Kerinchi and also provided gifts to SPM high achievers in the area.
