MCA confirms ceding Kuantan and two state seats

your say Lim Chong Leong: MCA chief Chua Soi Lek said that MCA's traditional seats of Gelang Patah and Wangsa Maju are still under negotiations.

It seems Chua is still negotiating when Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has already announced that Umno is taking back Wangsa Maju.

Chua is still in the dark when Umno is grabbing all its seats. Last week, Chua said he still had loads of time to propose candidates while PM Najib Razak announced the dissolution of parliament the day after.

Chua is not in the government so he only gets second-hand news. This time round he is not standing for elections, that means he will only get third-hand news, because while MCA ministers (if they win) are having cabinet meetings, they will only tell him things that are not protected by executive privilege.

How then as MCA president is he going to plot the policies of the party?

Vijay47: Psychologically and strategically, I would think that conceding seats to others coupled with its president declining be a candidate does not auger well for MCA, not that I care two hoots.

Perhaps MCA, like MIC and Gerakan, can take some consolation from the fact that "we were there" during the pivotal moment in Malaysian history when it was slaughtered during Pakatan Rakyat's conquest of Putrajaya.

Goodbye, MCA, I will not say it was nice knowing you. It was not, at least not these last few years when you lost, nay, surrendered, all pride and self-respect to former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Umno and made a mockery of what the likes of Tan Siew Sin fought for and achieved for the glory to the Chinese community and indeed the whole country.

Ferdtan: Make way, make way, Umno is coming. All the Chinese leaders in MCA, please move aside. You are all deemed useless and unwinnable candidates. Better still, why not give all the MCA seats to Umno?

If Chua can still face his party members, it shows how thick-skinned he is. If MCA members have an iota of dignity left in them, all of them should resign in protest.

Ordinary Umno leaders not only rode roughshod over MCA, even Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali had hit out more than a year ago at Chua, calling the MCA president a "stupid, frustrated politician" with "low morals".

So MCA, please tell your members where to hide their faces?

Astounded: This is the beginning of the end for MCA. In 2008, it won only 15 out of 40 parliamentary seats and 32 out of 90 state seats it contested. In 2013, it will have even lower number of seats.

The fact is MCA is simply not acceptable to the community it claims to represent. Hence, the vast majority of its candidates are not "winnable". So MCA is now forced to surrender the seats it used to contest.

And why is the MCA rejected by the Chinese? It is because it is beholden to its big brother Umno. But most of all, many of its leaders are self serving - they are more concerned about pleasing Umno so that they can get to keep their cabinet seats.

Chua said the party would be allocated new seats after the next electoral boundary re-delineation exercise. For that to happen, BN has to win two-thirds majority. But is that going to happen?

MCA has just been sold down the drain by its president. Party members may as well give up and hop over to Pakatan in droves.

JackStar: MCA is dying. So is BN. Look at the number of BN leaders who are not standing for election - Chua Soi Lek, Koh Tsu Koon, Peter Chin, Shahrizat Abdul Jalil. M Kayveas too?

They know that they and the BN are finished. But they are still desperately bringing in the foreigners, manipulating the electoral roll, buying votes and using government facilities, etc.

Will BN leaders explain their fraudulent law which blocks the courts from examining the electoral roll for false voters? BN's non-Malay MPs betrayed the country when they supported Umno's despicable ploy to bolster its support with these illegal voters.

Anonymous$&@?: MCA, don't tell me Hindraf can get a better deal than you? It's about time you all quit BN and join Pakatan. At least this way you will not eat egg, and build some credibility for yourself. Maybe you can even get some sympathy votes.

My2CentsWorth: I think MCA has run it course. It is the beginning of the end. Malaysians of all races have move forward, leaving this race-based party holding on to its glory days.

Look at Gerakan, MIC, and etc. This election, Malaysians will vaporised all these parties with our votes.

Pahatian: All along since these are Malay-majority seats, they are rightfully Umno's. But to keep MCA alive, these seats were in fact loaned to MCA. Now MCA's ally is going to drive the last nail in its coffin.
