Tycoons sponsor pro-BN mega dinner on April 20

your say Appum: Let these crony capitalists sponsor the mega dinners all the they want. This is a free and democratic country, but they are the ones who fear change the most because their businesses depend on cronyism and apple-polishing.

Not only that, they prefer the present government because they can easily pay bribes to get their contracts, piratisation, projects, business licences, approvals and favours.

They keep saying that Pakatan Rakyat politicians are also corrupt. The rakyat know that if the Pakatan politicians are corrupt and proven to be so, action will be taken. Not to mention, the rakyat have seen with their own eyes the blatant corruption of Umno-BN politicians.

No action is ever seen taken in the cases of the Scorpene submarines, the Cowgate scandal, Altantuya Shaariibuu's death, private investigator P Balasubramaniam's second statutory declaration (SD2), and NGO Global Witness' video expose of Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud.

These are the ‘sacred cow' politicians of Umno-BN - all beyond the reach of the law. Go eat their dinners, take their gifts, take their money; it's all free, but vote opposition.

Tehachapi: Go for the dinner and enjoy the food and have a good time, but vote Pakatan when the time comes. Filling your tummies and exercising your legitimate rights are two separate and distinct priorities.

Food is an immediate need and will fill your stomach for one meal, but political power and influence affects the future of the nation, it is long-term in nature and should not be treated like a bowl of rice.

Know the difference and exercise your discretion. Votes cannot be bought with food. Man does not live on bread alone.

They should sponsor a dinner for one million people so that all the Chinese across the country can be invited to have a feast before nomination day. Isn't that a way to celebrate the beginning of the end?

The Mask: I really cannot blame those Chinese tycoons. They are already rich and it's payback time. But for the average Chinese citizen, have you not learnt your lessons? What are you getting in return?

To be sidelined, to be called ‘pendatangs' (immigrants), to be given leftovers, to be humiliated by selective persecution, to be bypassed for promotions, and now the greatest of all insults, to come with money to buy your votes. Are you that cheap? Have you no more dignity left?

As for Michelle Yeoh, all I ask is that you think of your role as Burmese democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi in the movie ‘The Lady', and to consider what the Burmese army had done to its people.

Fair&Just: It's really an insult to the Chinese's sense of righteousness and uprightness. The so-called Chinese associations (if it is true) are supporting a caretaker premier so allegedly tainted with murder, corruption, bigotry and discrimination, and a so-called MCA head who is a tainted adulterer and who will not be contesting in the general election because he is not supported by his own community.

Who held up a keris and said to bathe it with Chinese blood? The Chinese, though discriminated, have soldiered on with determination and will always want to maintain their dignity, pride and respect.

Only those scoundrels who are given crumbs are now supping with the devils, insulting their community while jeopardising their children's future, or they already have dual citizenship while staying here to make their dirty money.

SimonTi: Please do not think that the rakyat are fools like you. Indeed, you are abusing your ‘democratic right' to support a corrupt and supremacist regime.

You are supporting racism, wholesale corruption, the degradation of every institution, the destruction of our education system and the judiciary, the killing of Teoh Beng Hock and Ahmad Sarbani, the killing of countless innocent people who died in custody, the Project IC and treason against Sabah.

All for the selfish interests of these Chinese tycoons and businesspeople who only desire to reap filthy profit at the expense of the democratic rights of the people for a just and fair society for all, especially the rakyat who have been real victims for 56 years under a corrupt regime.

Buddyoo: It is a good idea for the event to be held in the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ), at least those who previously have had no reason to go there will now have a chance to see what a poor development it is with all the empty lots and underutilised facilities and judge for themselves whether the investment made on PKFZ is justified.

Let's all go there and have a good free meal, and then decide who to vote for.

Jesse: These towkays made money from a corrupt system and it is in their interest to maintain it. Integrity, democratic rights and equal opportunities are all irrelevant to these money-minded people.

How about spending your easy money on the destitute, the old folk homes, the orphanages and the homeless?

No, they will not help you to make more money. It is better to help the corrupt so that you can become even richer. It is your choice, of course, but a very shameful one indeed.

Headhunter: Wait until the opposition wins and then you'll see these Chinese tycoons crawling on all fours to seek patronage. They should have stayed neutral instead of playing to partisan politics.

SteveK: For those attending the dinner, I want to say that you're practically eating your own flesh. The meat is cut from your body over the years by these tycoons with the help of BN. And only a fraction of your meat will be served anyway. Enjoy.
