PAS is to discuss internally a sex video purportedly involving the Islamic party's secretary-general Mustafa Ali.

Malay language news portal Sinar Harian Online quoted PAS information chief Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man as saying the party will not make public the details of the discussion.

This is because the party's focus now is on the May 5 general election.

"We believe that this issue is to create distraction and to slander. No need to talk much about it because we don't want this to become the culture," Tuan Ibrahim is quoted as saying.

The sex video has been circulating on pro-Umno blogs since April 11 and Mustafa, through his lawyer, has denie d that he is the person in the video.

The video depicts a man having sex with an unidentified woman and dressing up afterwards.

PAS leaders, including party president Hadi Awang and vice-president Husam Musa, have denounced the video as fake.
