MCA: Pakatan scared of 1Malaysia success

Speechless: I thought caretaker Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak coined the 1Malaysia slogan with the objective of promoting racial unity and harmony.

Yet now, you have an MCA mouthpiece saying that 1Malaysia is the property of BN. So all this while, the mega campaign to promote 1Malaysia is actually meant for BN members because it looks like no one else has the right to use the word 1Malaysia except BN people.

Therefore for MCA publicity bureau chairperson Heng Seai Kie to say that the opposition si jealous of 1Malaysia, which is meant for a specific group (BN), is unfounded.

I wonder if I am confused, or whether it is Heng, or Najib or caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin or perhaps everyone. What exactly is this thing called 1Malaysia?

Clever voter: If you call 1Malaysia a success - take a look at the depth of polarisation in our schools and workplaces. It is a really a smokescreen, one that misled rather than informed the public of the real changes that need to take place.

You have BN politicians threatening or shouting slogans that do not reflect 1Malaysia. The Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) is not 1Malaysia. Small and medium-side enterprises (SME) business is being squeezed, and ownership of large business is now in the hands of a few.

Corruption is thriving like never before. A lot of people on the street still have to give bribes to get things done. It's nothing to shout about. If BN believes this is a success, then their standards of success are shamelessly low.

Confused: The spirit of '1Malaysia' is shown not merely by simply placing its logo or flags all over the place. It is by the actions of the leaders and their sincerity.

I, for one, do not feel the 1Malaysia spirit with all the slandering and racist remarks made by the BN people.

Clearwater: 1Malaysia would have been a good slogan to promote national unity but it has degenerated into an ubiquitous parody through overuse and hypocrisy. If politicians were also to use it to promote their partisan interests, its message ranks equal with toilet graffiti.

Vote 4 Justice Vote 4 Truth: Even Najib himself could not explain the concept of 1Malaysia fully, preferring to say that he maintains an element of ambiguity in it. How Heng can measure the success of this project is bewildering. How can you tell, Heng?

Tehachapi: Correction please, Malaysia is our country; it is our pride and shared heritage. It belongs to all of us Malaysians and is not the reserved territory of Umno-BN.

You must be out your mind to think that you can add 1, 2, 3, 4 or infinity to my Malaysia and then file for intellectual property (IP) protection. No, never, and how ridiculous.

If you contribute positively to nation building, attract honour and prestige to Malaysia, then every Malaysian will have no quarrel with it.

But if you soil its reputation and engage in corruption then we will condemn and haunt you until you stop these wicked acts. We do not want our beloved Malaysia to be tainted with devious characteristics which are not its true attributes.

Why are you so worked up about wanting to claim that 1Malaysia is Najib's or Umno-BN's invention. Malaysia was formed in 1963, not when Najib became PM. Stop being ridiculous and ill-informed.

I repeat - Malaysia belongs to all Malaysians. It is a country and not a slogan.

Ex-wfw: Why emphasise so much on slogans? We have had enough of it. Just show us that you are sincere and honest enough to catch the crooks within BN.

Your action just reminds the people that BN will never change, so what else can you offer? More offers of RM500?

Cala: Regardless of who this Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM) is, we are all aware that 1Malaysia is a concept that works only on paper.

Since Najib is a slogan-maniac, 1Malaysia comes to represent anything that works. On the ground, however, it has failed miserably. In fact, the very moment of its pronouncement by Najib, Muhyiddin shot it down by claiming that he is Malay first, Malaysian second.

Thus, 1 Malaysia is just an advertisement gimmick, an icon, a concept and nothing more. It may sound noble and sincere, but no one in the Umno-led BN regime believes in it.

Right All Wrongs: How much of the rakyat's money has been spent on the 1Malaysia brand name? Nobody knows. Just on consultant agency Apco company alone, the money spent was already in the millions.

When Najib is not the PM any longer (win or lose, he is gone), this 1Malaysia logo will be discarded by the next PM (whether Pakatan or BN). This I am sure of.

It is a waste of public money whatever BN does. You are proud of it but we aren't because behind this logo there is no integrity at all.

Hidden behind this logo are the handbags, diamond rings, Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ), National Feedlot Corporation (NFC), etc. The list goes on and on and round the earth a zillion times.

P Dev Anand Pillai: Heng ought to understand that if 1Malaysia is a success, Umno should have introduced Chinese and Indian candidates from its stable instead of going back to MIC and MCA.

All Pakatan parties are multiracial, even PAS, has put up non-Malay candidates. It is Pakatan which has been successful in uniting the races, not BN.

ACR: The Election Commission (EC) had stipulated that only flags and symbols of registered political parties can be displayed. How are those with the 1Malaysia slogan allowed to be put up indiscriminately?

And Heng of all persons, being an MCA leader whose party was decimated even before the polls thanks to Umno's race tactics, should know that 1Malaysia is nothing more than lip service for Najib. The DPM doesn't live by it and neither does his godfather, Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Najib proved the uselessness of 1Malaysia by fielding Perkasa leader Zulkifli Noordin in Shah Alam. So what is 1Malaysia actually?
