Azizan's rivals in, one defends seat, another to Parliament
Two rivals of Kedah caretaker Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak have been retained by PAS in the May 5 general election. One will defend his state seat while the other, also an incumbent state exco member, is moved to a parliamentary constituency.
Two rivals of Kedah caretaker Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak have been retained by PAS in the May 5 general election. One will defend his state seat while the other, also an incumbent state exco member, is moved to a parliamentary constituency.
Phahrolrazi Zawawi (
seated left
), who is Azizan's number two in Kedah PAS, is defending his Pengkalan Kundor state seat, while Ismail Salleh (
on the right
), who is the number three in the state party leadership and incumbent in the Alor Mengkudu state seat, will contest in the Jerlun parliamentary seat.
This follows the announcement of the Kedah PAS candidates lists recently.
Phahrolrazi and Ismail, were among the four state executive councillors who rejected their state exco re-appointment letters last year. Phahrolrazi has denied being involved in any move to unseat Azizan as Kedah menteri besar.
Meanwhile, Azizan, who will defending his Sungai Limau state seat, will be facing his cousin Mohd Fadzilah Mohd Ali of Umno.
Azizan (
left
) has already said he is not disturbed about having to face his cousin in this election.
The Kedah contest also will see PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu battling out in Pendang and party vice-president Mahfuz Omar defending his Pokok Sena parliamentary seat.
