SABAH PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim has blamed opposition allies in Sabah for the multi-corner fights that will be seen in the state on May 5.

He was asked to comment on the large number of seats that will see candidates from Pakatan Rakyat parties and their allies running against one another.

Local Pakatan leaders have, however, dismissed this as irrelevant to the actual battle, saying this will mainly be between the two coalitions.

yong teck lee and sapp Asked to respond to SAPP president Yong Teck Lee, who had remarked that "Sabah is for Sabah" when commenting on the influx of peninsula-based political entities, Anwar dismissed the matter.

"We also say that ‘Sabah is for Sabah’. There is no peninsula person contesting in Sabah," he said, referring to Pakatan's candidates who are Sabah locals.

However, Anwar said that graft and abuse of power must be opposed by forces in both the peninsula and Sabah.

"Those involved in corruption, who take away land from the natives ... some are peninsula persons and some are also Sabahan as well," he noted.

Sabah groups and Pakatan have been at loggerheads over seat negotiations, leading to multi-corner fights - one seat will be contested by seven candidates.
