Caretaker Johor menteri besar Abdul Ghani Othman, denies he is a chauvinist as claimed by his opponents.

Abdul Ghani who is contesting the Gelang Patah parliamentary seat, said Johoreans know him better.

"I have been here for the past 18 years (as MB) and the Chinese community here knows that I have engaged with them.

NONE "I work with them directly on community issues as well as on education, culture and welfare," said Abdul Ghani ( right ) as quoted by the New Straits Times today.

He then alleged that his opponent in Gelang Patah, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang, was provoking the Chinese.

The long time Johor MB said he prefers a low-key but focused approach in campaigning among the grassroots.

"I am not used to the daily focus on Gelang Patah. I feel awkward about it.

"I tell you it is not easy. When Lim comes to Gelang Patah, he holds a huge ceramah. I can't be doing that," he said.

The Johor MB said he has brought about a holistic development in Johor in his 18 years of leading the state, as one can see rural areas like Batu Pahat, Muar, and even Kluang are booming.
