Shah Alam BN candidate Zulkifli Noordin told the New Straits Times that PAS promotes racism and extremism.

He then commended caretaker Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak for his moderate approach.

NONE Zulkifli, who is also Malay rights group Perkasa's vice-president, said that when he was in PAS, he witnessed young children at a kindergarten being taught to step on pictures of then prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad ( left ) and to despise the government leaders.

The aspiring Shah Alam candidate claimed that he saw this when he had been the Kuala Lumpur PAS liaison officer, and described how he had been taken aback by the practices of instilling such culture among the opposition.

"Najib, on the other hand, shows us what the politics of moderation is all about - where there is no room for extremism and people are taught to be accommodating to others of different race and religion, and to live harmoniously together in the same country," said the incumbent Kulim Bandar Baru MP, who is now contesting under the BN ticket.

NONE He was also quoted in Berita Harian today that he recognised Najib as taking a big risk in putting him as a candidate, and describes himself as a changed extremist.

President of NGO Persatuan Minda and Social Prihatin Ramesh Rao ( right ) has also described Zulkifli as being a morally upright individual.

It is noted that Zulkifli created headlines when he was kissed by MIC member N Devendran during nomination day.

The politician, who is also a lawyer, is contesting against incumbent PAS MP Khalid Samad in Shah Alam .

Zulkifli's name was proposed and seconded by a Chinese and an Indian from the MCA and MIC respectively.

The Perkasa vice-president is also no stranger to controversy, as he was quoted in a video to have made disparaging remarks to the Hindu community about their goddess, although he has since apologised for having done so.
