A technician was ordered by the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur today to enter his defence on three charges, including for causing hurt to a Al-Hijrah TV journalist while taking part in the Bersih 3.0 rally on April 28 last year.
Judge Mahmud Abdullah made the order after finding that the prosecution had succeeded in establishing a prima facie case against Mohd Safuan Mamat @ Nordin, 26, at the end of the prosecution case.
The court set June 14 to hear Mohd Safuan’s defence after his lawyer, Mohd Fikah Sanusi, said that his client would testify under oath from the dock.
On the first charge, Mohd Safuan is alleged to have committed mischief by damaging a Royal Malaysia Police vehicle with a cone while taking part in the riot at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman at 3.50pm on April 28, 2012.
Besides causing hurt to the journalist, Mohd Azri Mohd Salleh, 29 (
