As polling day approaches former Sodomy II complainant Saiful Bukhari Azlan has revealed a video of his second religious oath ( sumpah laknat ) in Mecca over his allegations of sodomy directed at PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

The former aide of Anwar, who made his first religious oath at a mosque in Kuala Lumpur in 2008, said he made the second oath while on umrah to Mecca on April 9, 2012.

NONE He said he hopes the video will "clean" his and his family's name after his father Azlan Mohd Lazim yesterday retracted an apology issued to Anwar over the sodomy allegations.

Azlan previously said the sodomy allegation was a political conspiracy, something Saiful has denied.

Saiful said he hopes his second oath at Masjidil Haram in Mecca will allay doubts about the authenticity of his allegations.

Last Jan 9 Anwar was acquitted of a charge of sodomising Saiful at the Desa Damansara condominium between 3.01pm and 4.30pm on June 26, 2008.

In the 80-page written judgment subsequently released, justice Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah said it was unsafe to accept the DNA evidence in the trial and as such the court cannot corroborate the evidence related by Saiful Bukhari regarding the incident.

Saiful also expressed his delight at his father’s decision “to return to the right path”.

“These two months (since his father apologised to Anwar) has been the toughest days of my life. I could only pray everyday that he would finally return to the right path,” he said.

'Prayers have been answered'

“I am glad my prayers have finally been answered.”

He reiterated his belief that his father was “brainwashed” into apologising to Anwar and also joining PKR, though he did not know who allegedly orchestrated his father’s decision to join PKR.

“He called me yesterday morning before he made his decision to quit PKR and said he has had enough and wants to return to the right path,” he further added, saying that he was left “speechless” when his father informed him that he would quit PKR and retract his apology to Anwar.

He also said that Anwar would never dare to do another religious oath to prove his innocence over Saiful’s allegations.

“But Insyallah, in July the appeals court will start its trial and we will find out the truth,” he added.
