The Malaysian Meteorological Department forecasts no rain in most states for polling day this Sunday.

The states concerned are Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan, and Selangor.

According to a statement from the department today, cloudy skies are expected in the morning in Kuala Langat and Sepang in Selangor.

Rain is expected in the morning in 13 areas in Perak namely Larut, Parit Buntar, Bagan Serai, Bukit Gantang, Taiping, Padang Rengas, Sungai Siput, Tambun, Ipoh Timur, Ipoh Barat, Batu Gajah, Kuala Kangsar and Gopeng.

In Pahang, rain is expected in Kuantan, Paya Besar, Pekan and Rompin while in Sabah, rainfall is expected in Batu Sapi, Kinabatangan, Silam and Tawau.

Rainfall is also expected in five areas in Sarawak namely Mas Gading, Santubong, Petra Jaya, Bandar Kuching and Stampin.

According to the department, thunderstorms will hit Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Negeri Sembilan in the evening.  

Meanwhile, voters are advised to come prepared with umbrellas and to be cautious on polling day.

“This weather forecast is a guide for voters. They are advised to go out early as some areas will experience rain and thunderstorms in the evening,” the department said.
