Despite the national PAS leadership's decision to withdraw from contesting the Kota Damansara state seat, its supporters were spotted still campaigning for its candidate outside a polling centre.

About eight of them, holding banners and posters bearing a picture of PAS candidate Ridzual Ismail gathered outside Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Seksyen 6 and urged voters, "Don't forget to vote PAS".

NONE One banner displayed a newspaper clipping of an article saying that the local PKR grassroots have rejected incumbent PSM chief Dr Mohd Nasir Hashim, who is running under the PKR banner.

Also fishing for votes at the eleventh hour was a bunch of PKR supporters.

However, the only campaign material they held up were banners with the Pakatan Rakyat logo while shouting "Vote for Pakatan Rakyat! Vote for these (PAS and PKR) two only".

One of the Islamic party's women supporters who was fishing for votes for Ridzual said when met that they are rejecting Nasir's candidacy as he was not a PKR member.

Votes won't be split confidence

Asked if their action would split the votes for Pakatan, the woman, who only wanted to known as Noni, said that would not happen as the local voters knew the real situation.

"No, it will not split the votes. People here know what happened. We all reject him (Nasir) as he is a PSM member and not from PKR. If he is really a PKR member, we won't mind as Pakatan is made up of PAS, DAP and PKR.

PAS on April 27 agreed to give way to Nasir, who is running under the PKR banner.

This was met with opposition from the local PAS and PKR members, who said they preferred a truly Pakatan candidate.

Imcumbent Subang MP R Sivarasa of PKR met during his visit to the same polling centre, refused to comment on the awkward situation.

All that Sivarasa would say was that he would adhere to de facto PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim's decision allowing Nasir to contest Kota Damansara under the party's flag.
