Nine cars in a parking lot were buried in a 25-metre high landslide which covered more than 100 metres of Jalan Ampang in front of the Dang Wangi LRT station about 7.05pm yesterday.
However, no casualties were reported, although one of the car’s owners had a narrow escape while trying to move his new Honda City.
Recalling the incident, engineer M Logeswaran, 28, said when he arrived at the parking lot about 7.45pm his car was only about 40 percent covered and he decided to try and move it.
“As I was moving it I heard a very loud sound and saw more earth sliding down in front of the car. I got out and ran,” he said, adding that he had bought the car just two months ago.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue director Khirudin Rahman confirmed that the nine cars were completely buried and one of them was also damaged by a fallen tree.
A Bernama survey of the area at 11pm found that there was still soil movements due to the heavy rains.
