Six MCA divisions in Penang today demanded that MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek bears full responsibility for the party's "catastrophic loss" in Sunday's general election.

Bayan Baru division secretary David Yim said: "With this token, the president should quit his position from the party immediately so as to maintain the dignity of the MCA.

"This is also the only opportunity for the president to redeem himself and apologise to all Malaysian Chinese and MCA members for all the damages he has caused."

Yim told a press conference today that Chua should resign for selecting only cronies as candidates and for his "tainted image", which went absolutely against the moral and gentlemanly way that has always been part of the Chinese community's values.

He said Chua, being self-centred and arrogant in handling issues concerning the Chinese community, was a major disconnect between the party and the community and this led to the Chinese turning their backs on the MCA.

The six MCA divisions that made this call to Chua are from Bayan Baru, Bukit Bendera, Tanjung, Jelutong, Permatang Pauh and Tasek Gelugor.

Yim said he hoped this press conference would have a domino effect and other MCA divisions would follow suit and demand Chua's resignation.

PCM shuts down all 13 of its service centres

Meanwhile, Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) has shut down all its 13 service centres in Penang following its total defeat in the general election.

NONE In a press conference today, its vice-chief Huan Chang Guan ( right ) said since the people did not appreciate its services, it was best to close down the centres.

He repeated what he said on his Facebook page during his press briefing at his service centre in Prai.

“It is enough for me and I will close down all my service centres.”

PCM as a party, however, is not about to close as Huan said it will recruit more members to add to the current 5,000.

On the nature of services the PCM provided, Huan said they included “matters pertaining to birth certificates, identity cards, Socso caims and also free medical aid employing doctors part-time.

“I will refer all the cases to the newly-elected Pakatan Rakyat MP and it is up to her whether she wants to do it or not,” he added.

 

Huan expressed sadness that 90 percent of the Chinese had rejected the BN following promises made by Pakatan during the election campaign.

“Pakatan operates like a cult,” he claimed.

“Najib is a good prime minister and the most hardworking among all the prime ministers so far and had done wonderful changes and transformations over the last four years,” said Huan in defence of the PM.

“He did everything for the Chinese community, tell me what he did not do when asked by them,” he added.

“Is this the way to show their gratitude to him? I am very ashamed of the Chinese community,” he said further.

Huan said some Umno members were angry with Najib for doing so many things for the Chinese.

He agreed with Chua that MCA should not take up any federal post, asking the BN not to appoint any coordinators as “it was a waste of time”.
