Negri Sembilan Barisan Nasional (BN) chief Mohamad Hasan has been reappointed as the menteri besar of Negri Sembilan for a third term.
Mohamad, who defended his Rantau state seat in Sunday’s general election, is scheduled to be sworn in before Negri Sembilan Yang Dipertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir at Istana Besar Seri Menanti, Kuala Pilah, on Saturday.
“Thank God, at noon today I was granted an audience with Tuanku Muhriz on Saturday to hand over the instrument of appointment for me to be reappointed menteri besar of Negri Sembilan from Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
“I wish to express my thanks to the prime minister, who is also BN chairperson, for again placing the trust in me to lead Negri Sembilan,” he told a press conference in Seremban today.
He also thanked Tuanku Muhriz for consenting to his appointment as the menteri besar.
Mohamad, who is also state Umno chief, had led the state BN to a simple majory victory in Sunday’s 13th general election. The coalition captured 22 of the 36 state seats at stake.
Mohamad, 57, was first appointed menteri besar of Negri Sembilan on March 25, 2004, succeeding Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, and was reappointed for his second term after the 2008 general election.
He said the state executive council line up would be decided in consultation with the prime minister after he takes his oath of office.
