Perak police chief Mohd Shukri Dahlan said police did not approve the application to stage 'Bantah 505' gathering in the state because it did not meet the requirements of the Peaceful Assembly Act.

He said the application should be submitted by the organiser 10 days before he proposed date of gathering.

"If the organiser continues to hold the gathering, it will be unlawful," he said when contacted yesterday.

He advised the public to not participate in the gathering.

Mohd Shukri also said police had received 65 reports to protest the gathering.

Thirty of the reports were lodged at the Kampar district police station, Gerik (19), Hilir Perak (seven), Manjung (three), Pengkalan Hulu (three), Batu Gajah (two) and Ipoh (one).

Police reports against Pakatan leaders

NONE Meanwhile, the Federal Territory (FT) Umno liaison committee has lodged a police report against PKR adviser Anwar Ibrahim ( left ), DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng for allegedly slandering Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Its executive secretary, Kamarudin Hassan, said the committee also lodged two other reports.

They pertained to the illegal rally at Kelana Jaya Stadium on May 7, and fabrication that inspector-general of police Ismail Omar was asked to resign.

Kamarudin said the three reports were lodged at the Dang Wangi police headquarters at 3pm today.

He was accompanied by FT Umno Youth executive secretary Khyril Anuar Abd Rahim and Wangsa Maju Umno Youth vice-head Azha Mustapha.

Dang Wangi police chief ACP Zainuddin Ahmad confirmed receiving the reports.
